Visual and Performing Arts Proficiencies and Certificates

The Creative Arts department offers several levels of Visual Arts programs. The Visual Arts Bachelor’s is a four-year program that gives the student training and experience across all forms of church media, design, and digital imaging.

Alternatively, students may take a different bachelor’s and pair it with a proficiency in a particular field of Visual Arts, including Graphic Design, Interactive Design, and Visual Productions. Each of these three minors consists of four core classes (including the Portfolio capstone) along with four classes focused the the student’s proficiency of choice.

The proficiency in Graphic Design takes the student through the basics of design technology, layout, and prepress skills needed for designing graphics for print and display, and includes courses like Print Production, Typography, and Branding Design. The Graphic Design Proficiency will equip the student to design brochures, presentation graphics, and logos needed to visually communicate in ministry. This proficiency can be taken with any concentration.

Interactive Design

The Interactive Design proficiency educates the student from the ground up in web design and development using industry standard technology, workflow, and principles. Enrolled students will benefit from courses like Web Development I and II, Interactive Design, and Content Management Systems. Students will be prepared to design, develop, and publish websites and digital content with a distinct ministry focus. This proficiency can be taken with any concentration.

Visual Productions

15 Credits  |  2+ Years  |  Minor

Students will learn to capture, edit, and produce visual and auditory presentations and will gain hands-on experience and training through courses like Photography I and II and Video Production. This proficiency focuses on equipping students to create visual and auditory content through photography and video that can communicate the purpose and message of the ministry. The Visual Productions proficiency can be taken with any concentration.

Performing Arts Minor

Speech

Students take courses in subjects ranging from Debate to Interpretive Speech to The Art of Storytelling to develop their verbal presentation skills while having the opportunity to participate in dramas and other stage performances throughout their studies. The program culminates with a series of private lessons and a speech recital.
